Championship Bound West Forsyth has reached the GHSA (Georgia High School Association) state finals in Division 3 for girls lacrosse. This is a significant moment for the program, as they are aiming to secure their first-ever state championship. The team is no stranger to the state finals, having reached this stage for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in the past five years. This experience will likely be a valuable asset. Their overall record this season is impressive at 18 wins and only 2 losses. They also dominated their region with a perfect 5-0 record, finishing first. West Forsyth is recognized as a strong team, holding a national ranking of 5th and a Georgia state ranking of 2nd overall. Within Georgia Division 3, they are ranked #1.
The Wolverines have a potent offense, scoring an average of 3.6 goals per game by Bryce Birkholz (Jr., M) and with Avery Grace Jones (Jr., A) leading in assists with 1.8 per game. Goalie A. Bastow (Jr., G) has been solid in net with a goals-against average of 5.7 and a save percentage of 0.496.
To reach the finals, West Forsyth had a strong playoff run, including a decisive 19-3 victory over Denmark in the Elite Eight and a 14-5 win against North Gwinnett in the Final Four. West Forsyth will be competing against Walton in the Division 3 state championship game. The state championship games are being held at Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Girls Division 3 championship game, featuring West Forsyth vs. Walton, is scheduled for this Friday, May 16th, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
