West Forsyth High School’s lacrosse program has reason to celebrate as standout defender Braylen Schmeelk has officially committed to play Division I lacrosse at Arizona State University. A junior at West Forsyth, Schmeelk has steadily built a reputation for her tenacious play on defense, her leadership in transition, and her knack for causing turnovers and controlling ground balls. Recognized as a First Team All‑State selection in Georgia, her commitment underscores how much ASU’s coaching staff values her skill set and potential at the collegiate level.
Braylen’s decision to join the Sun Devils marks a significant step not only for her athletic career but also for West Forsyth’s legacy of producing high-level talent. As she transitions to the Pac‑12 level, she brings with her the grit, work ethic, and competitive drive that have distinguished her in key games such as being named Player of the Game during tight matchups like the 6–5 win over Lambert last year.
Her presence at ASU will undoubtedly fortify their backline, and her journey serves as an inspiration to younger players in Forsyth County aiming for the collegiate ranks.
