Charlie Delp, a standout baseball player not only for West, but in the state of Georgia, has become an essential figure on the team, both for his skill at first base and his leadership on and off the field.
When asked about his position, Delp shared, “I play first base because it’s a position I’ve grown comfortable with over the years. I was fortunate to fill that role during my freshman year and have been committed to it ever since.”
Delp credits his focus and composure during high pressure moments to a combination of faith and preparation. “Prayer and preparation help me stay grounded,” he explained. “With God, there’s no need to worry. Baseball is a game where failure is part of the process, but you can’t let it define you or take over your mindset.”
One of Delp’s most unforgettable experiences came last year when West Forsyth made history by winning their first ever region championship. “That victory was incredible,” he said. “We had a great team with even better chemistry, which made the win so special.”
Balancing academics with athletics is a challenge Delp manages carefully. “I set aside specific days for studying and make sure to complete most of my work ahead of time,” he noted, highlighting his disciplined approach.
Looking ahead, Delp’s goals are clear. “I want to help the team win the region again, ensure the future of West Forsyth baseball is strong, and push my teammates to be their absolute best,” he affirmed.
With his dedication, leadership, and faith driven mindset, Charlie Delp is not only a cornerstone for West Forsyth’s baseball team but also an inspiring example for his peers.
