The West Forsyth Wolverines wrapped up the 2025 regular season with an impressive 8-2 overall record and a 6-1 mark in Region 6-6A, solidifying a region title, first since 2020, and only the 3rd in school history. Under head coach Dave Svehla, the Wolverines showcased one of the most balanced teams in school history, blending a potent rushing attack with a disciplined defense that consistently controlled the tempo of games. Their only setbacks came in early non-region play, as West rebounded to win six of its last seven matchups heading into the postseason.
This year’s offensive unit was led by senior quarterback Max Walraven, who continued to shine as a steady leader, complemented by a powerful ground game led by Andrew Davis, whose breakout performances fueled several of the team’s key victories. The offensive line’s strength allowed the Wolverines to mix their attack effectively, while the defense, anchored by Jack Sacchetti and Mikaeden Sibblis, stifled opponents and set the tone in critical region games. Notable wins included a 42-10 Homecoming rout of South Forsyth and a dominant 45-14 victory over Alpharetta to close out the regular season on a high note.
Consistency in region play proved to be West Forsyth’s defining trait. After a narrow early loss to Parkview, the Wolverines tightened up defensively and executed with precision through their region slate, earning decisive wins over rivals Lambert, Denmark, and North Forsyth. Their ability to control games on both sides of the ball, scoring big when needed and locking down defensively in close matchups, reflects the team’s growth and maturity since last season’s quarterfinal run (lost 20-13 to Douglas County).
Now, the Wolverines turn their attention to the postseason. They’ll host Westlake High School in the first round of the GHSA Class 6A State Playoffs on Friday, November 14, at Wolverine Stadium. With momentum, experience, and homefield advantage on their side, West Forsyth enters the playoffs confident and battle tested. The community will be out in full force, ready to back a team that’s proven it can compete with the best, and may have the tools to make another deep playoff run.
