West Forsyth High School’s Economics classes, led by Coach Williams, are bringing entrepreneurship to life through hands-on business projects. Students are challenged to design a complete business concept, including branding, marketing strategies, and financial planning, as part of their semester-long assignment.
One standout project this year is Magic Melt, a gourmet grilled cheese shop imagined by Reed Kyranakis and Brooke Hamersley. Their concept focuses on turning a classic comfort food into a unique dining experience, featuring creative melts and fresh ingredients. For their project, the students developed a detailed business plan, including a proposed location at Halcyon in Alpharetta, GA, to show how their idea could thrive in a real-world setting.
Coach Williams explained the purpose behind these projects:
“We want students to see how economic principles apply outside the classroom. By creating a business plan, they learn about budgeting, supply and demand, and marketing in a practical way.”
While Magic Melt won’t actually open its doors, the project demonstrates the creativity and ambition of West Forsyth students. These assignments give students a taste of entrepreneurship and show how classroom learning can spark big ideas.
