West Forsyth FBLA had a very eventful 1st semester. Before school started (June 28-July 2), 13 members competed at Nationals in Anaheim, California with 9 making the stage (top 10) and placing in the top 8 Nationally.

During July, just before school started, the chapter officers attended the Summer Leadership and Officer Training Summit in south Atlanta. These individuals joined West Forsyth’s first ever state officer serving as the Georgia FBLA State President at the summit.

August, September, and October brought record numbers for membership. WFHS FBLA has grown from 34 members in 2017 to 283 members this school year. On top of the record number of members, the region competition team grew to 116 members competing in various events. This is up from 94 the previous year.

October saw members participate in Trunk or Treat and West Fest and others volunteered their time at Boo Bash. Boo Bash is a Trunk or Treat and dance event serving the special needs children of Forsyth County.

By the time November rolled in, WFHS FBLA had completed a record number of Business Achievement Awards and maxed out the total number of points available for Chapter of the Year. The members are highly focused on becoming a Superior Chapter for the second consecutive year.

Additionally, the officers and members attended the Fall Leadership Conference in Athens. Not only is this a conference to enhance leadership but also 6 state qualifying events took place. WFHS ended with 3 events qualifying for state and advancing to Atlanta in March. All competitors performed well with all finishing inside the top 15% in the state.

WFHS FBLA is looking forward to the second semester and the upcoming competitions at Region, State, and Nationals in San Antonio, Texas.
